We welcome students with disabilities and seek to provide opportunities for a positive college experience. Notification of a disability, with supporting documentation should be received prior to registration in order to determine appropriate and reasonable services, accommodations and implementation. Individual services are consistent with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act and are provided to each eligible student. What are some of the academic adjustments that I can receive at ACC?
- Student Disabilities Services is committed to helping students make the most of their academic experience. As such, we provide a variety of different academic adjustments including, but not limited to: extended testing time, closed caption, preferential seating, and assistive technology. All services are free and each student is evaluated on an individual basis. Please visit the academic adjustments page for a more comprehensive list of available academic adjustments.
When do I provide my documentation?
- It is recommended that students submit their paperwork validating their disability upon enrollment at ACC. They may submit documentation at a later date; however academic adjustments are not retroactive.

Academic adjustments for the classroom
You may receive the following classroom academic adjustments:
- sign language interpreter
- enlarged type or alternative format of class materials
- closed caption
- assistive technology (Kirzweil Reader 3000)
- Audio Taping
The library offers an adaptable work station equipped with the following:
- Kirzweil Reader 3000 (win version 13, is an integrated scan and read software program that provides multisensory access to reading materials with powerful tools for reading, writing, test-taking, and learning)
- Scanner (device that scans documents and converts them to digital data)
- Headphones (for listening to audio signals such as speech or music)
- Clearview 500 Tieman Optelec (auto-focus desktop magnification system)
- Tracker 2000 (hands free mouse)
- walk-in and telephone reference services are available to assist with research, locating materials, or general information.
- Reference Librarians can be contacted directly via email
- There is one black and white photocopier on the main floor of the library; 10 cents per copy.
