Asnuntuck, in partnership with the Connecticut DEEP Boating Division and Professional Marine Education, will be offering five opportunities for people to register for combination safe boating/personal watercraft classes. One option for the training includes attending three, three-hour sessions offered by DEEP. Students must attend all classes to qualify. Participation will fulfill the requirements for the Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate. The course will provide a diploma for the Personal Watercraft Operator’s certificate. The $50.00 certificate is a one-time lifetime certificate. Students must be 12 years or older. The cost of the course is $25.00. All 3-day classes will run on Tuesdays and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. The three day class sessions will be held on, April 11, 13 and 18; June 6, 8 and 13th and May 9, 11 and 16th.
There will be two, one-day opportunities offered by Professional Marine Education. The complete, updated safe boating certification, can also be earned by participating in a one-day eight hour class. This class includes the newest requirement for towing skiers & tubes. Successful completion will allow the student to purchase a Connecticut Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation with Waterski endorsement, which enables them to operate any recreational vessel up to 65 feet in length, with some age restrictions for younger operators. The one-day courses will be taught from 8 a.m.-3:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 11th and Saturday, May 6th. The cost is $89.
